Thanksgiving is right around the corner and it’s been a little hectic around these parts. We actually celebrated our Thanksgiving a week early, because Jay’s girls will be spending the holiday with their mom this year. Our celebration was small (just our parents and the girls), but I pulled out all the stops. I think that everyone involved was absolutely shocked that I’d make such an elaborate meal without photographing it to share with you – ha!
Outside of the Instant Pot mashed potatoes recipe I shared on Instagram and a quick post about the Thanksgiving gift tag I sent home with leftovers, I really haven’t talked much about it at all. In the past, I’ve shared these fancy glitter dipped pumpkin place cards and even some fun turkey toes candy corn favors, so I had to sneak in one last Thanksgiving post featuring this adorable turkey place cards.
When you see how easy it is to make these pillow box turkey place cards, I promise you’ll be ready to whip up a few yourself.
Pillow Box Turkey Place Cards
To recreate this project you will need:
Silhouette or a Pillow Box Punch Board (I actually have both and for simple projects like this, I use the punch board!)
Kraft Cardstock
Teal Cardstock
Yellow Cardstock
Red Cardstock
White Cardstock
Black Enamel Dots
Brown Twine
Glue Stick
Scissors
To create your pillow box turkey place cards complete the following steps.
- Start by creating your pillow box turkey body using kraft cardstock. You can use your Silhouette electronic cutting machine to cut the boxes out (which is great if you have a bunch you need to create),or you can simply punch them out using the We R Memory Keepers Pillow Box Punch. I love the WR line of punch boards and use them frequently. It’s just simpler to pull out for smaller jobs as opposed to laying everything out and programming cuts with my electronic machine.
- Cut feathers, beak and gobble out on colored cardstock. I have to admit that it’s far easier to cut out small pieces like this using a Silhouette than working freehand (though you can do either). I had my machine running to cut the little pieces, while I used my punch board to create pillow boxes.
- Adhere the feathers to the back side of the pillow box using a glue stick. If you want a more dimensional look, layering the feathers using glue dots or foam tabs would also work.
- Adhere the beak and gobble to the front center of the pillow box using a glue stick.
- Place self-adhesive enamel brads or jewels just above the beak for eyes.
- Tie twine around the base of the turkey and add a small white cardstock tag with your guests name on it. Alternatively, you could simple write their name on the bottom of the box.
Each box takes just minutes to assemble! We filled ours with Reeses Pieces, because…yum!
