Fall football season is well underway, but with Thanksgiving games and bowl season right around the corner there’s never been a better time to plan a neighborhood tailgate party. Grab all the details on what made our party an annual “must have.”

I live in the best neighborhood in the world. Really. I know. You think I am nuts, but, it turns out the best neighborhood in the world is located right here in South Jordan, Utah (Daybreak). While I first felt a pull to this area over 10 years ago, I’ve only lived in my home for about a year and a half. From the moment I moved in I realized that I had found “my people.” Maybe it’s the super colorful neighborhood, the social activities, or the relatively impressive diversity (for Utah, anyway), but it is HOME. One of the unique things about this area, is that every home here is designed with a large front porch. All the porch swings, rockers and patio furniture tends to draw people out and lends a friendly vibe. Needless to say, we all do a lot of relaxing and entertaining out on the porch.
The one drawback to our area is the wind. Chicago’s got nothin’ on Daybreak. It can make it a little difficult to maintain a “pretty” porch. I can’t tell you the number of times my neighbors had the pleasure of watching me run down the street after my porch pillows or a garland before I clued into how to best lock it all down. Last year I had terrible trouble with my Christmas lights blowing around and breaking, so I’ve been looking for a great solution for nearly a year.
YOU GUYS! Jasco Enbrighten LED Color Changing Cafe Lights in white are the answer to all of my problems. I put my lights up earlier this month. They’re 24 feet long, which stretches the length of my porch. The way they are designed to fasten and hang completely resolves the wind issues, but even if I run into trouble, they’re impact resistant (I’ve already tested this particular feature out on accident, while hanging them. Yikes!). We’ve been through Halloween together and, because of all the color options, I can tell you they’re here to stay. Permanently.
Neighborhood Tailgate Party
Since my neighbors are from “all over,” not everyone cheers for the hometown team.
This fall we’ve come together out on the porch for a neighborhood tailgate party before going inside to watch “the game,” whatever the team may be. My new lights create the perfect ambiance for fun get togethers, so I hosted our most recent get together.
Fortunately, my neighbors are super tolerant of my love for the Brigham Young University Cougars (true blue, even in the midst of this rough year). And they don’t even mind that I’ve decorated my space accordingly. I love that my new lights have some great BLUE options (along with red, green, pink, purple, white…I could keep going).
The best thing about tailgate parties is how simple they are to throw together. It’s easy to please both adults and kids with hot dogs or your favorite pizza!
The trick is to have lots of fun snacks spread throughout your space! I grabbed some chips, made up my favorite garlic herb popcorn, along with my favorite caramel corn mix.
I love to serve apple cider in the fall. It’s such a fun addition. For those who want something with a bit more fizz, I do keep some soda on hand as well.
My neighbors have fallen in love with my Jasco Enbrighten Cafe lights. They’re impressed with how stable the lights are and I wowed them with the ability to change colors easily from the handy remote control.
Here’s a little sneak at how great the colors look at night…
I am looking forward to building an arbor in the back yard over my patio next summer and I can’t wait to add these lights! They’re perfection.
