It’s hard to believe the Fourth of July is right around the corner. I feel like summer has only just begun…Time flies when you’re having fun???
Truthfully, today officially marks the first full day of summer. I don’t know about you, but I love to celebrate the little holidays like this one. Pinterest would lead you to believe you need to have a full dessert table and loads of decorations for an auspicious day like this one, but the truth is a simple treat does just fine!
There are few light treats that say summer better than cotton candy. Its presence reigns supreme at every amusement park, carnival and outdoor party.
I purchased this fun cotton candy machine on Amazon a few years ago. I love pulling it out to make a special treat. The best part about this sweet little piece of nostalgia is that you don’t HAVE to use sanding sugar to create fluffy spun sugar, you can actually use a piece of hard candy! The flavor options are truly endless!!! Love it. We’ve tried everything from peppermints to Jolly Ranchers. My personal favorite though? Werthers. Yum.
If you don’t have the inclination to buy your own cotton candy machine, you can buy individual bags of fluff in bulk on Amazon.
Hello Summer Gift Tag
To recreate these Hello Summer cotton candy gifts and tags, you will need:
Cotton Candy (make your own OR buy it in bulk)
Paper Straws
Ice Cream Cups
Baker’s Twine
Hello Summer Gift Tag Print and Cut File
Cardstock
Printer
Paper Trimmer
Hole Punch
Start this project by printing out the gift tags. I print my tags out on plain white cardstock using my Cannon Pixma. It’s perfect for small at home jobs like this one. If you don’t have a good color printer at home, simply take the file over to the local print shop and have it printed there.
Trim the tags to the size you prefer and punch a hole at the top. Cut pieces of baker’s twine that you can use to attach the tags later.
Prepare your cotton candy at home, using a paper straw as the cotton candy stick. Once the cotton candy fluff is made, place it in an ice cream cup for setting out and serving. Attach the Hello Summer tag to the cotton candy straw and you’re good to go!
