Approximately 25% of the texts I exchange are in regards to the latest and greatest at Target. Okay…I exaggerate…I think. Target is my favorite spot to find things that I NEED. The other day my friend Amy sent me photos from the One Spot (Side note, is it even called that anymore? Maybe it should be the Three Spot.). She had found a bunch of adorable stuff for spring, including a whole package of super-cute green glitter hats for $3. Sold!
Together we’ve prepared these itty bitty St. Patrick’s Day leprechaun hats are a great way to “pinch proof” your ensemble for the holiday.
St. Patrick’s Day Leprechaun Hats
Supplies:
Small green hats (Target, Amazon or make your own with green glittered cardstock)
Laser Printer (or visit your local printshop)
Heidi Swapp Minc
Heidi Swapp Minc Gold Foil
Cricut Electronic Cutting Machine
Pinch Proof Shamrock Print + Cut File
I am all for a handmade party good, but sometimes it’s just cheaper to purchase a pre-made item. We found the little cone hats at Target, but a quick search on Amazon yielded these adorable hats (which might even be cuter!). With that hats already made, this project involves a bit of printing and some gold foil (Not into the foil? Go ahead and cut your shamrocks out of gold cardstock.). That’s it!
Use the print and cut feature on the Cricut (or other similar machine) to print your shamrocks out using a laser printer on white cardstock. Using a laser printer is absolutely essential when working with the Minc – the toner is what the foil adheres to. If you own an ink jet printer like I do and don’t want to purchase something new, just run down to the print shop. They can take care of you with a copy machine!
Apply foil over the top of your shamrocks and run them through the Minc.
I just love the extra special quality the shiny gold foil creates.
Line the print up on your mat and run it through the cutting machine for a crisp, clean cut.
Once the shamrocks are cut, a little dab of glue will apply them to the hat and you’re good to go!
