I am dreaming of a white Christmas…
Which is not terribly far fetched considering I live in Utah and we’ve already had more than three feet of snow this season. What I am really looking forward to though is a home decorated with white – starting with a white winter wreath on the front door.
This was a super-quick project (you know what a fan I am of quickie crafts) and soo inexpensive (like, dollar store priced).
I started out with a regular grapevine wreath. I purchased it for about $6, but I see them at the dollar store all the time.
I took it out on the deck and spray painted the entire thing a nice crisp white.
What a difference a little paint makes!
I also gathered a few winter white items that I had on hand to decorate the wreath.
A couple of white glitter snowflake ornaments from the dollar store…I have a huge box of them, because they fit with every tree and always look fantastic. These little snowballs were actually on a branch that I had used as part of an old Christmas tree and a little owl that was actually purchased (and not used) earlier this fall…
I made quick work of this project late one night quickly glueing all of the items on the wreath. It took a total of 15 minutes at most.
I also added some white glitter for a little sparkle. It looks like snow when the light hits it.
It’s crazy ridiculous trying to photograph a wreath on my south facing glass door, but I really do love the way the wreath turned out. The best part is, it’s a piece I can leave up through January!
Do you usually have a wreath up on your front door?
Cute little wreath and bird!
I have an Autumn wreath and one for the Winter that I put on our front door. We also have front door lights that I might add some greenery to along with a bow. You know, change things up a bit. When you get into decorating for the holidays you’re always looking for new ideas to try.
Elisabeth, Thank you so much for your sweet comment about my wreath 🙂 I totally agree with your comment about new ideas. Just in the last few weeks I’ve seen so many fun things, I want to completely revamp my porch! xoxo, Tauni
First of all, LOVE this wreath! I can’t wait to make one. And secondly, I opened this e-mail a few minutes ago and deliriously read the post title as “DIY Teeth Whitener.” ha ha I started scrolling down and didn’t see a darn thing that had to do with teeth. I said to myself, “How in the world is this wreath going to help me whiten my teeth?” Is it late? It sure is! ha ha Thanks for the idea!
Alli, Thanks for your fun comment, it definitely gave me a good giggle. Maybe I should find a DIY teeth whitener…sounds like there would be at least one person interested. LOL. If you do end up making a similar wreath, let me know. I would love to see it! xoxo, Tauni
I’m going to spray my big grapevine wreath white and add white pom poms for snowballs. I will add a few red cardinals, sitting on a white sprayed branch and some white pinecones. It is for my son and his wife, to hang all winter long above their fireplace.
That will look beautiful! Thanks for sharing. xoxo Tauni
