My boyfriend has a penchant for writing alternate lyrics to super popular summer songs and it’s started to rub off on me. About half the time, I find myself singing along to a song without even bothering to decipher the REAL lyrics. Today’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Sun” cut files was inspired by such a moment.

Fortunately the silly lyrics came to me in plenty of time to create a summer project. There are still weeks of warm hot sunny days left to sit out and soak up the sun.

Girls Just Wanna Have Sun Cut File

My niece recently came to stay for a few days. Since it was just the two of us, I wanted to have lots of fun activities planned so that she didn’t get bored. To provide a little variety, I decided to invite a few friends and their kids over for a crafternoon. Together, we made fun Girls Just Wanna Have Sun tote bags for the summer. These little totes are the perfect size for carrying all the things you need for the pool or an afternoon at the beach. In fact I liked how they turned out so much, I made one for myself!

To make the tote bags, we cut a mirror image of the free file out on easy weed heat transfer from Expressions Vinyl using a Silhouette and then simply ironed the image on to inexpensive tote bags.

The finished bags are about 14×14 – the perfect size for a rolled up towel, goggles and some sun screen. Though the bag looks great on its own, this “Girls Just Wanna Have Sun” cut file would look equally fantastic on a t-shirt, mug or pillow cover, don’t you think?
