I have a habit of ignoring many trends. The fact that everyone is doing something can be a big turn off for me, so by the time I act on a trend it’s often no longer a trend. Do you ever feel like that?
Enter the yarn wreath. I’ve seen so many cute ones…I’ve even pinned a few to my wreath Pinterest board, but I just never felt the urge to make one. Then last week while wandering around Michael’s, I found this amazingly fun sparkly eyelash yarn. I wanted to use it for a wreath, but it would have taken a million skeins and cost a fortune to use on its own so I picked up some super-soft, fluffy gray yarn to make a yarn Halloween bat wreath.
Halloween Yarn Wreath Tutorial
First I wrapped the wreath form with the soft gray yarn. I wrapped it rather loosely, rather than pulling it tightly, because I wanted to maintain the fluffiness.
Here’s what it looked like once the whole styrofoam form had been wrapped…
At this point I added the fun eyelash yarn. Just a bit for a little fuzz and a little sparkle.
When it comes to glitter I am usually a more is more, than a less is more kinda girl so I feel like I used serious restraint here…
I added a few more bits of sparkle with some dollar isle spiders.
I embellished a fluffy bat that I picked up at a craft wholesaler with sequins and added some glitter bats.
My yarn Halloween wreath is all done!
Here’s what it looks like on the door…
I have to be honest. I don’t know if I am done with this one. Now that I am looking at the photos, I am not sure I like the glitter bats. I may remove them and add a little Halloween banner or something. What do you think?
Have you made a yarn wreath? Share a photo or a blog post in the comments. I would love to see it and pin it over on my wreath Pinterest board.
Very Cute! Love it.
Thanks Rebecca, since I think YOU have great taste that means a lot! xoxo, Tauni
