Looking for a great retirement gift idea? Don’t miss this fun cooler “gift basket” and coordinating print and cut “happy trails” gift tag.
My boyfriend’s parents announced their retirement a couple of months ago. It was a surprise to us, though we knew they’d be retiring soon. The bigger surprise? They decided to pack up their home, put most of their things in storage and live life on the road in an RV for the next year.
Initially I thought the idea sounded a bit crazy, but after having seen their set up I am ready to head out…on a road trip. As Jay and I thought through what they might need in the midst of downsizing, we thought a cooler “gift basket” would be the perfect retirement gift idea. We filled it with all sorts of fun goodies they will be able to use while out on the road
Retirement Gift Idea and Happy Trails Gift Tag
Though Jay’s parents will be out on the road, we intended the cooler to be used on day trips.
The cooler is an Igloo Maxcold Roller. We liked the idea of having something that they could easily pull along behind them, as opposed to having to lug something around. I love the functionality. It has tons of pockets and bungee cords to hold picnic blankets. One of my favorite features though, it that the inner cooler is removable so it can easily be cleaned. I have to admit, I really want one of my own. This thing is perfect for summer picnics!
We filled it with all sorts of useful goodies for their RV and just for fun. My favorite items were probably the bocce set we packed in the bottom and the simple pack of playing cards – both will provide hours of fun! Jay was absolutely in LOVE with the Coleman camp lantern (such a guy thing).
Once I had masterfully packed the cooler full, it was so tight all we had to do was add a bit of ribbon and a gift tag to secure things.
I made quick work of designing the gift tag on my computer and I’ve got it already for download so that you can easily print and cut it out for your own personal use!
