How to Make Candy Corn Buttons

Snap handmade monday

Happy Monday friends! I am excited to be celebrating a Handmade Monday with Laura, from Pink Cake Plate.

I first met Laura a little over two years ago in Arizona – what a great person. She’s super giving and such a fun member of our community. When she contacted me about sharing her candy corn buttons recipe tutorial on SNAP! I was elated.

Take it away Laura…

How to Make Candy Corn Buttons

Hi Snapsters!!! I am so excited to be here and share with you a fun and cute Halloween treat that is easy to make!

Do you remember the nostalgic candy buttons? You can still find them, I just happened to see them at Michaels…

How would you like to make your own? This recipe is really easy and fun! You can also change the colors for just about any other occasion or holiday!!

Are you ready to get started?

I used Martha Stewart’s recipe and instructions which you can find HERE.

I made a few changes…

I used plastic squirt bottles instead of plastic bags this worked great! If you don’t have bottles then go with the plastic bags.

First you will want to make your royal icing. TIP: make sure it is not too thick so it will flow easily to form the buttons!

I used Martha’s template to create my own in the shape of the classic candy corn! I also made some in the traditional strips!

Take Wax Paper and place over the template – make sure the shiny side is down. Use tape to keep the was paper secure.

Next, take your frosting and start making your “buttons”!

This recipe makes a lot of buttons!! These would be great for Halloween treats for your friends and family.

Here are the buttons in the traditional “Candy Corn” triangle shape…

Aren’t these buttons adorable?

Thank you so much Tauni for having me here today! I can’t wait for SNAP 2013!! See you then!!

Thanks so much for sharing Laura! Don’t miss some of Laura’s other fun fall projects…

What a great tutorial! I remember those candy dots as a child, but what I love about this recipe is 1) it’s homemade vs store-bought; and 2) you can adapt this by changing the colors for any special occasion! Definitely pinning this one!
