Life’s tempo seems to pick up in the fall. Back-to-school, Snap ticket sales, Halloween and then “the holidays” push life into high gear. With all of the activity, visits from friends are also on the horizon. I am sprucing up the guest room and putting together a houseguest welcome basket in anticipation.
I don’t know about you, but the biggest problem I have when traveling is I never seem to be hungry at the right time. Instead I am hungry at all the wrong times, like midnight. Midnight…when the house is dark and popping open the refrigerator might be a wee bit awkward.
In the welcome basket for my guests, I’ve included some of the new Jif Peanut Butter Bars that have been popping up in grocery stores everywhere. I love to include peanut butter snacks, because they’re so filling.
These bars come in three flavors (creamy, crunchy and chocolate peanut butter) and pack a punch with 7-8 grams of protein. The creamy, fresh-roasted nut butter combined with crunchy granola is to die for. Basically they’re the perfect snack!
Since the Jif Peanut Butter Bars are new and understanding what you put in your body is important, you might want to pop over to the Jif website for the nutritional information and to check them out for yourself.
I’ve got a small pitcher of water and some glasses on the night stand to make sure my friends stay hydrated. We’re in Utah, where the air is thin and more than a little dry.
In addition to the water a variety of lotions, potions and lip balm will help keep guests skin soft. I love picking up locally made products. They seem so much more personal, don’t you think?
The final touch to this little welcome is a do not disturb sign. Let’s be honest, this is more for the kids than anyone else…They occasionally need a little reminder to keep quiet when others are sleeping.
I’ve turned this sign into a fun printable that I am sharing so you can include one with the next welcome basket you create for your guests! The printable is made to simply hang from the circle slit cut out, but I dressed mine up to make it just a bit more special.

Sprucing my space and creating this little houseguest welcome gift has made me so happy. I am really looking forward to my friends coming out. What do you include in the guest room when friends come to stay?
