Decorate a fall apple mantel featuring an easy-to-make wreath and three apple-themed prints.
Weather in Utah is a bit strange. While we TRY to enjoy four full seasons, it sometimes feels like two. The heat of summer lasts well into September and sometimes even October, so it can be a bit hard to get in the mood for fall. To help transition my home, I set about decorating the mantel for fall. This year, I opted for a colorful apple theme, featuring yellow, red and green.
Fall Apple Mantel with Free Prints
I started by creating a pretty fall apple wreath. I used deep red apples, with small fall flowers and lots of green foliage, atop a plain grapevine wreath.

While the shape and texture of the wreath creates a strong focal point, the foundation of my apple mantel is made up of three prints.
The first is one of my favorite fall quotes, printed in warm yellow.
I love that the quote embodies the spirit of the season – evoking thoughts of both summer and fall. It’s perfection.
The smallest print on my mantel is my favorite. Each time I design prints for the mantel, I always like to create one with Jay in mind. Apple pie is his favorite, so this one is just for him!
The actual red prints a bit deeper than it looks in this photo. It actually matches the apples on my wreath perfectly.
The final print brings in some of green and combined with the red, helps tie it all together. Because it’s such a basic print, it allows the apple pie print to steal the show.
Perfect.
All together, the wreath and prints make for the perfect fall apple mantel. I am so happy about how it’s turned out. It’s the perfect decor to take my home into fall!
I like to keep things inexpensive, so I print my large format prints at the Costco Photo Center. They’re under $10 a piece. Each print is framed in a white Ikea Ribba frame. I use these frames over and over all over my house and they’re perfect for projects like this one. They also come in at about $10 a piece.
I love the graphic prints. They really make a statement (literally) on your mantel. I am not an orange person, so I particularly like the red apple wreath as well.
