Hello, friends! Michele from The Scrap Shoppe here with a super simple paper craft for you today!
One of our favorite summer activities is camping! My little boys love being outdoors, playing in the dirt, making dinner by the campfire, and sleeping in a tent. As parents, we love that all of us can unplug and spend time together. We’re making a lot of memories on these camping trips, and I definitely want to be sure they are preserved!
I’m going to show you a quick and easy way to whip up a mini album to hold those memories… Using mainly 3 sheets of scrapbook paper! Intrigued? Good! Let’s get to it!
Camping has always been a popular pastime, and scrapbook brands are jumping on board! You can find some very cute camp-themed kits at your local craft store. Today I’m going to be using 3 sheets of 12×12 paper from the Echo Park Happy Camper line, a sticker sheet (optional), and scrap cardboard.
Two of the sheets of paper are what we refer to as journaling sheets. They are filled with little rectangles that can be cut out and used as journaling prompts for scrapbook pages. The third sheet is also a journaling sheet, but we will be using the back side (polka dots). I also snagged a sticker sheet for extra embellishing. Since it is from the same scrapbook line, it will match perfectly.
The cardboard will be used to make the front and back cover of the mini album. Cut out 2 rectangles roughly the same size as the larger journaling sheets then cover with the polka dot paper using Mod Podge. Cover both sides with scrapbook paper.
Cut out all of the journaling prompts. And now suddenly we have all of the pages of the mini album!
Decorate the cover of the album. I used one of the smaller journaling prompts, stickers from the sticker sheet, and some other embellishments I had in my craft stash.
Start piecing together the inside of the mini album. I started by decorating the inner front cover. You can use the smaller journaling prompts as embellishments on the larger pages or as actual pages themselves. I used the stickers and stamps from my stash as extra embellishments.
The album has 20 pages ready to be filled with fun camping memories. There are loads of prompts for journaling (obviously) and plenty of places for pictures.
Line up all of the pages and punch a hole in the upper left corner.
Keep the pages together with a jump ring then decorate it with ribbon and/or twine.
I plan to use the camping mini album to record all of our trips this summer. I can easily dedicated a few pages per camp out! And we’ll have something super fun to look back on in the future. AND it only cost a few dollars to put together!
Of course, you can put this quick and easy type of mini album together for any theme. Regardless of what the theme of your album is, there will be scrapbook paper out there that will match it!
