Patriotic Banner

Sometimes I am lucky enough to be a part of something big…something exciting…something fun… Things like this fun conference, or a new birthday idea for my all time favorite eight-year-old… Today, I am up to something REALLY special. It’s actually a first for me. Three Cheers for the Red, White and Blue final logo (2)I am joining 110 other bloggers to bring you a fun patriotic idea for the Fourth of July. You read it right. That’s 110 freshy-fresh ideas. Woot! Woot! I am sharing a fun handmade paper patriotic banner with you.

Handmade Paper Patriotic Banner

Supplies:
Dictionary page pennants
White paper doilies
Brayer
Red stamp ink
Glitter paper
Glitter Thickers
Patriotic embellishments

Simple triangles are so easy to work with whether you’re cutting them by hand, or you have an electronic cutting machine.

I pulled out this fun American Crafts brayer set that I picked up nearly six months ago to add some colored stripes and dimension.

Along with my dictionary pages, I knew that I wanted to use some paper doilies. I think they’re so fun, but they’re feminine enough I don’t get to use them often in a house full of boys.

I couldn’t leave well enough alone and decided to edge the doilies with a little glitter.

I didn’t want to simply stick letters right on top of the doilies, so I quickly cut some circles out of glitter paper.

Once that was done, it was really just a matter of layering everything together.

Want to know where I can get that set of brayers? Where did you get yours? Know you said you got them about 6 months ago, any hints of where I might find them? What kind of paper did you print the dictionary flags with? Or are they straight out of dictionary? Love loving your banner. The details really make it so special. Hoping I’ll have time to make this banner. If I can’t find the brayer I’ll use a stencil or ruler to make red lines on flags. Great post, glad you shared. Happy daYS

Glad you liked the banner! The dictionary pages are straight out of a really old dictionary that I picked up at a thrift shop – a lot easier than printing. You can also find dictionary-style scrapbook paper at most stores now if you’d prefer not to use a real book. If you’d like to pick up the brayer, it is available on Amazon. I’ve actually linked to the location in my product list in the post. Just go click on the word brayer under supplies and it will take you right there! https://taunieverett.com/patriotic-banner/ Hope you’re able to complete this before the Fourth! xoxo Tauni

Thanks so much for info to get brayer set. I’ve never bought anything on Amazon so guess it’s time to start. I’ve been looking at all the wonderful July 4th. projects on blog land, link parties, so much to choose from.
After looking at quite a few I went into sewing room to get lots of patriotic fabrics I’ve had for so long, carried them from one house to another, used some every place. I’m cutting out flags for banner, have several different fabrics that will be great. In between the flags I’ll use some strips of left over pieces to complete the banner.
Need to get some shiny letters tomorrow, (our payday). Will order my ink cartridges thru HP, much better deals, I can print out some of fantastic printables shared. Not enuf time to do all I’d love to do.
Always happy having specific projects to make.
I’d made a big flag which is already hanging on our front porch. Will make another smaller one with wood hubs put together for a sign .Hey whatever works huh? The flag I finished was made with end of a pallet and boards added in between.
Altho I’m supposed to be “retired” I keep very busy making things, reading blogs, trying to keep our joint decent at least. Have a hard time making myself stop to clean when I’m knee deep in fun projects. Not enuf time in any week or day for me to do all I want.
I’ve been working on painting this place, fixing things up, finally getting something done after almost 8 yrs. in here. We have a single wide mfg. home 16×80, not our dream house but ours, property is very expensive in Grand Junction, CO areas. We live west about 18 miles from G.J. Pretty much rural and we have almost 1/2 acre. Happy summer days
