How to Source Pinterest Pins with a Dead Link

How to source pins with a bad link with one quick click via @snapconference #pinterest #pinteresttips #bloggingtipsI am experiencing a bit of a lifestyle overhaul…I wish I could say the changes were part of a self-imposed refocus, but that would be a lie. It’s a bit more forced than that.

Currently, I am on a doctor-ordered elimination diet to help determine which foods I may have an intolerance to. What does that mean? I don’t get to enjoy dairy products, gluten, refined sugar or sugar supplements and no corn. It’s so close to the Whole30 program that I just decided to roll with it and try that out too.

Since I know you will ask…Yes. I really like Whole30. It’s given me a whole new perspective on food, eating, life in general. And yes, I will post more about it once I am farther into the program.

That means I’ve been spending a lot of time on Pinterest checking out Whole30 recipes. Here’s my Whole30/Paleo Pinterest Board if you’d like to follow along…

Follow Tauni (SNAP!)’s board Whole30/Paleo on Pinterest.

Here’s the thing, if you’ve never met a donut you didn’t like, eating a bunch of broccoli and kale really isn’t that appealing. Sorry! So I search and I search…

Every once in a while I come upon a photo that makes my mouth water and I think, “Eureka. I’ve found the recipe that will save my life.”

I bet you know what’s coming…I bet it’s happened to you…

I click.

And…

Pinterest Broken Link Screen

The link takes me nowhere.

Nooooooooooooooooooo.

But, don’t despair. Today I am showing you how to source Pinterest pins with the click of a button (or a mouse).

Pin Search Chrome Extension

Meet the Pin Search Chrome Extension, a great work around tool for sourcing those pins on Pinterest with a dead link.

With just the click of a button, you can add additional functionality to Pinterest that may just rock your world. You can source all of those dead links.

This Chrome extension leverages the power of Google Image Search to provide you a wealth of information about the photo. Find the original link where the image appears, find similar images, find other images by the photographer who created the image…Yay!

Let’s walk through this…We’re going to use this great image from my friend Courtney…

Paleo Spaghetti and Meatballs via Sweet C's DesignsLooks good, doesn’t it?

No link on Pinterest? No problem.

We’ve added the Pin Search extension and it now shows up with other Pinterest functionality when you hover over a photo. You can see it here…

Image sourced. Cool, right?

It will also show you visually similar images…

This is also a great way to search for ideas that may not be showing up on Pinterest

What do you think? Worth adding the one-click add?
