One of the things I love most about Christmas is the presents – not necessarily receiving presents, but I like to choose just the right gift for each person and then wrap it up beautifully! I enjoy picking out pretty paper, finding colorful matching ribbon, adding the perfect gift tag and embellishments to the gift.
Today I wanted to share some fun handmade gift wrap ideas using simple kraft boxes, making those special gifts even more beautiful!
For this gift wrapping idea, my two secret weapons included a large pencil that I found at my trusty ‘ol Walmart and some gold ink. (P.S. I’m totally loving gold & silver metallics for Christmas this year!) Other supplies included a kraft jewelry box, twine and mini ornaments.
If you can’t find a large pencil, use an xacto knife and cut a circle out of a big pink eraser, or even a wine cork would work as well.
Simply press your large pencil eraser into the colored ink pad and stamp onto your box or whatever else you want to decorate.
In this picture I’m stamping onto a square kraft box I bought at Pick Your Plum, but you can use the stamp to decorate any type of container…gable boxes, pillow boxes, paper bags, muslin bags, kraft wrapping paper, etc. I wouldn’t recommend stamping onto the white boxes…they have a more slick/shiny surface and the ink just smudges…trust me! ๐
Let your stamping dry completely before you fill and decorate your container.
I got all my little nieces personalized necklaces for Christmas so that’s what I am putting in my various hand decorated boxes.
This box is wrapped in baker’s twine and then I added some little glass ornaments I found at IKEA along with a printable monogram gift tag.
Here are the rest of the necklaces all boxed up in their own embellished containers. For more details on how I created these packages, come visit me over at my blog.
I have a little love affair with printable gift tags going on right now. I’ve written 3 round-up posts containing new, free printable gift tags. All of the gift tags I used on the packages above can be found in those posts.
As I mentioned, I put necklaces in each of my little boxes, but I love the idea of using some of these embellished containers as place card holders at special holiday dinners or as a small take-home favor for each of the guests at a Christmas party.
