Hi SNAP friends! I can’t believe it’s already July. The other day I shared my 4th of July Mantel on my blog, but after the holiday is over I will be wanting some fun and fresh summer decor on my mantel. This Summer Washi Tape Art is going to be the perfect addition.
If you’ve been reading my contributing posts for any length of time now you know how much I love creating decor out of things from around my home that I already have on hand. Hey, if I can save money…that’s awesome! Especially when you switch up decor as much as I do. This project is perfect, it cost me nothing since I already had everything to make it. You probably do too!
Supplies:
– washi tape (bold & fun summer colors)
– frame
– white poster board
– Cricut Explore cutting machine
– glue stick or tape runner
The first thing I did was to create my “Summer Love” cut out in Cricut Design Space using my Cricut Explore. If you don’t have a cutting machine you can totally freehand this project by printing out the sign, and cut it out with an xacto knife.
I used the font Langdon. You can customize your template /canvas to whatever size frame you are using.
Cut poster board to fit inside frame, you will need to cut three pieces of poster board if it is white. You will cut two of this “Summer Love” cut out, and the third piece is for the washi tape.
Load your poster board one at a time in to your Explore and hit GO, and follow directions. Cut two signs, if you have darker poster board you won’t need to cut two. I could see the washi tape through mine so I made it more opaque by doubling up.
I used a tape runner to adhere my two cut outs together.
On your other piece of white poster board apply the washi tape however you’d like. Stripes, criss-crossed, etc.
Place your “Summer Love” cut out on top of your washi taper covered poster board. Use a tape runner to hold in place. Place in your frame or on a cute clipboard.
Now you have some super cute Summer Washi Tape Art.
By the way the frame is painted in the new DecoArt Americana Sweet Mint acrylic paint. Such a dreamy color.
If you’re looking for another summer decor idea you can check out my DIY Summer Slatted Sign over at my blog, be sure to say hello if you stop by. I hope you will come check out all the fun summer stuff I have to offer.

Love this project! Especially the color palette. That mint is dreamy, indeed! 🙂

So beautiful and summery! I love your color choices!! Can you tell me what a tape slider is? I googled it and all I see is white tape and zippers? Haha! I’m guessing it is a certain kind if tape used to hold things down on paint?

Hmm. I am not sure what you mean by tape slider. Do you mean tape runner? A tape runner is just a little tool that deposits a consistent line of adhesive (like double-stick tape) as it runs down the page 🙂 xoxoo Tauni
