A couple of things mark the end of summer and the beginning of fall around our house (and I’m sure many of yours too), one of them is football. Whether it’s football for the kids, in-state college rivalries, or even pro-football on Monday nights, it definitely signals a change in seasons here.
I don’t know what it is, but I’m a total sucker for the seasonal Oreos and when I spotted the football shaped ones at the grocery store, I knew I had to find a fun way to use them. I came up with a cool treat you can make for any occasion – football Oreo pops. Use them for a tailgating treat, Superbowl party snack, or even an end of the season party.
For this little treat you’ll need just a few things: football shaped Oreos, lollipop sticks, candy melts and white frosting.
Step 1 – Separate the top of the Oreo from the filling and other chocolate piece.
Step 2 – Dip your lollipop stick into the candy melts (which have been melted according to the package directions) and squish into the center of the white filling.
Step 3 – Replace the top of the Oreo cookie pressing softly to make sure the melted chocolate adheres to the top of the cookie. Wait approximately 30 minutes for candy melts to dry.
Step 4 – Dip cookie into the candy melts and cover completely.
Step 5 – Place in styrofoam base to dry for approximately 1 hour.
Step 6 – Using a ziploc baggie with a trimmed corner, pipe the white strings onto the football.
Now your football Oreo pops are ready to go! Place them in a container, display them on a plate, or wrap them up individually. Any way you serve them, I guarantee they’ll be gobbled up quickly!
To show your team spirit, decorate the Oreo footballs in your team’s colors with colored candy melts or with white chocolate you color yourself using oil-based candy coloring.

Dorothy, Not only are they cute, but they are SUPER simple! xoxo Tauni
these are so cute! i have to find these oreos in the store for sure!!
Aren’t they darling Andrea? So simple too…xoxo, T.
These are SO good! It took a little longer for my wife and I to make them than it should have because I kept eating the Oreos, but these will be a game day staple! My wife and I are hosting a party opening weekend for all my coworkers and friends at Dish, and this is just what I’ve been looking for! We’re going to turn our giant basement room into the perfect football headquarters. With my Hopper, I have three TVs hooked up, one to each tuner, that will allow us to watch three different games at the same time in full HD! This will give everyone a chance to root for their favorite team, and your Oreo-idea will ensure no one has to do it on an empty stomach!
Parker, sounds like a real party! Enjoy! -Tauni
Thanks Tauni! It was a blast, and I have to say, these Oreo pops were the biggest hit. My wife and I have your site bookmarked, and will be back fro more ideas next month for our Halloween party! Thanks again!
