Hi Friends. Today I’m sharing a quick project to help you accessorize for the Fabulous 4th of July this week. These Patriotic Felt Bows are the perfect accessory for you or your little one. They would also make a great summer time gift for anyone who loves a cute bow!
Supplies:
– Felt {Turquoise, Royal Blue, White, & Red}
– Scissors
– Glue Gun
– Cardstock Template {measurements below}
– Bobby Pins or Alligator Clips
First thing you need to do is create the template, I used plain cardstock. There are 3 pieces as you can see and I’ve listed the measurement to create these sweet little bows. You can adjust your measurements to make larger bows if you want. Once you have your little templates cut use them to cut your felt.
Begin by gluing your largest piece of felt first. You will need to place a small bead of hot glue on the very edge of the strip and glue the two ends together to form a circle of felt. Next pinch your circle to form the bow shape, you can add a small dot of hot glue if you’d like to hold it in place. Then place a dot of hot glue on the back of the bow and place it on your piece of felt that has the dove tailed ends. Then simply glue your last thin strip around the middle of the entire bow so that both ends meet at the back of the bow. Once your glue is dry add another dot of glue to the back and place your bobby pin or hair clip there.
Now you have a cute little bow. You can just wear them alone or clip them to a sweet thin headband. You can even use them on gift packaging! I created a small little image and made a little card to attach my bows to, now they are ready to give as a gift.
Your bows are so adorable. I wish my daughter was still young enough for hair-bows, but I do have nieces. Thanks for sharing your tutorial.
Thanks Brandi! Adults can wear these cutie little bows too, they look really cute with a messy bun! 🙂 Have fun making some!
Oh my gosh! So adorable!
Thanks Emily!
