Hi Snap readers! I’m Melissa from A Prudent Life and I’m so thrilled to be here sharing my One Word with you! Although most of my projects revolve around my home in the form of decor and organizing, my full tagline is “Inspirations for Home & Life.”
I love sharing things I’ve found that make my life easier and more enjoyable! The word of the year concept is something that really resonated with me when I heard about last year. Having one word to guide your actions throughout the year is so much easier (and more effective) than a big list of resolutions.
When I sat down to think about what I most wanted to do differently in 2015, I focused on my biggest struggles in 2014. On a day to day basis, I feel like I’m constantly busy. Most of the time, I’m “busy” doing several things at once and all that work isn’t the best use of my time. I’m jumping from task to task, never really focusing on what needs to be done that day to move me closer to my goals. I spend too much time multi-tasking on my too long list of to do’s and constantly let busy work get the way of real work.
With all that in mind, I realized my One Word for 2015 had to be FOCUS. Each day, I will take a moment to FOCUS on what needs to be done that day, and then I will work on it with as few distractions as possible.
Actionable things to help me out with this include turning off pop-up email notifications and making sure Facebook isn’t open in one of my browser windows. (Please tell me I’m not the only one that gets sucked in by those darn Facebook dings!) I’m thinking I probably need to avoid even having my phone out on my desk during dedicated focus time.

I had an INCREDIBLE first year of blogging even with my unfocused habits, so I can not wait to see what is in store for me during year two! Thanks so much for taking time to read about my 2015 word. I’d love you to come visit my absolute favorite project from last year – my complete pantry makeover!
