Editor’s Note: Please meet Brenda, from From Me, With Love. I simply love Brenda’s clean, simple take on things and I am thrilled that she’s joined us as a regular contributor for 2014.
Hi everyone! I am Brenda Bird, a graphic designer, and I blog over at From Me, With Love, a lifestyle, design and style blog. I am beyond thrilled to be a new contributor to the Snap blog.
When I was 8 years old, my dreams of Santa were dashed. The magic of Christmas didn’t feel like it used to. A little dramatic, I know, but I was always told I was an old soul. As I grew up and prepared Christmas for my family, the magic reappeared. I wanted my children to feel the magic of Christmas: the first snow fall, meeting Santa for the first time, making and decorating cookies, going to look at Christmas lights and all that fun stuff.
My boys squeal in delight when they find Fred, the elf, in another part of our house, or when they see Santa (for the tenth time!) Their innocence and belief is so innocent and pure.
I dread the day they will know the truth about Santa and all the magic involved. However, my oldest son reminded me of something very important. Isn’t it crazy how wise our children can be? He told me he wanted to give a present to Jesus. That simple statement, that desire to give is magic enough. Sometimes we get so caught up in other activities that we forget the real meaning for Christmas- Christ.
I love the traditions of visiting Santa, decorating cookies and giving gifts and will continue to cherish them, but I can’t focus just on them. I have to remember to include the real reason for the season. Remembering why we do the things we do will always keep the magic in our family.
Here is an 8×10 free printable to add to your Christmas decor.
Also, be sure to check out this modern geometric advent calendar that you can fill up with yummy treats and write in great activities that you can do with you family.
