Hi friends! I’m so LUCKY to be here today, see what I did there! Now that you have put all your Valentine’s decor away, it’s time to pull out all your green and gold decor for St. Patrick’s Day. Today I’m sharing this Lucky In Love Sign with you. It’s such a cute addition to your holiday decor. Let’s get started…
Supplies:
Wood, any scrap piece of wood will do
Foam brush
Americana acrylic paints {kelly green, grey sky, snow white}
Vinyl stencil
Painters tape
I always have scrap wood laying around which makes projects like this much easier. Last month I made this same sign for my Valentine’s Mantel, I love it so I decided to make it for St. Patrick’s Day as well. All I needed to add was the shamrock to the design.
I used my new Cricut Explore to create my vinyl stencil. I highly recommend you go check out this new machine, it’s awesome! Once my vinyl stencil was cut I gave my wood board a couple coats of white acrylic paint.
Once the white paint was dry I applied some painters tape, I wanted some light gray stripes to give my sign some extra personality. Press the painters tape firmly to ensure the edges are sealed. Then I applied my light gray paint, two thin layers did the trick. Then I removed the tape and let it dry.
Next I grabbed some sandpaper in a fine grit, I’m a sucker for a distressed sign lately. So I distressed all my edges and light gray stripes. You can leave them solid and untouched if you prefer a nice clean lined sign. Otherwise sand away baby!
I then applied my vinyl stencil. The fonts I used are Ostrich Sans and Halo Handletter. I used my foam brush to apply two coats of the kelly green paint. Then carefully peeled off my vinyl stencil.
Super cute right?! I love this cute little sign with some of my favorite green decor from around the house. It’s the perfect little hint of St. Patrick’sDay.
