Best Western Plus Park Place Inn Quick Review

WHAT WE LOVED

  • Location, location, location
  • Complimentary continental breakfast
  • Comfortable bed, with quality linens
  • Very hot water, in endless supply
  • Clean, well-kept room

WHAT WE DIDN’T

  • Very noisy
  • Incredibly small bathroom for sharing
  • Dark and uninviting
  • Bright ambient lighting outside room

There are a number of variables that go into picking the perfect Disneyland hotel, but few rank as high on the list as proximity to the Park. In fact, one of our most popular posts covers hotels within walking distance of Disneyland.

What’s the best way to get a deal on rooms at the Best Western Plus Park Place Inn?

“Deal” isn’t a phrase we’d use to characterize a stay at this hotel, but you will get the very best price booking with Get Away Today. Use our partner link to get a discount on the hotel’s parking fee and use promo code TE10 for an additional $10 off your vacation package.

You will want to book well in advance of your trip. Due to the location, this hotel fills up fast. If you’d like to stay at the closest hotel to Disneyland, book your trip four to six months out.

Where is the Best Western Plus Park Place Inn located?

Although you can’t get closer than Disney’s Grand Californian, there are a number of hotels located right across Harbor Blvd. that are closer than Paradise Pier and Disneyland Hotel. The closest hotel to Disneyland on Harbor Blvd. is the Best Western Plus Park Place Inn.

This hotel is located directly across the street from Disneyland’s main gate. The longest part of your walk into Disneyland Resort is the wait at the light to cross the street.

If you want a quick look at other options in the area, be sure to check out our
post featuring the very best hotels within walking distance of Disneyland.

What are the rooms like at the Best Western across the street from Disneyland?

In the case of this hotel, room location matters. The Best Western is a three floor, motel-style, with outdoor access bedroom doors that is wedged on a narrow, deep lot. Rooms at the back of the lot will add time to your walk.

We stayed in room 378. The room overlooked Harbor Blvd., which it turns out is a blessing and a curse…

Our walk consisted of a quick trip down two flights of stairs, across the entrance and across the street. Beyond convenient, which on its own makes this hotel worth consideration. However, the ambient lighting and noise from Harbor Blvd. impacted sleep.

If you’ve spent any time walking along Harbor Blvd. you’ve probably heard sirens a time or two, especially at night. On one recent trip we watched a car lead several cops on a chase up and down the road twice. Well, when those sirens are running right below your window, it’s bound to impact your sleep. We heard the sound of sirens multiple times well after midnight on our stay.

Our room was also located across the “hallway” from the ice machine and main access to the stairs. Again this is a motel-style building, so echos of young voices off the concrete made their way into our room well before 7 a.m.

Generally speaking we’d rather take a few extra steps for a more peaceful night’s rest.

Just inside the door of the room is a fairly large drop zone. It’s the perfect place to store luggage and is large enough to fit three or four suitcases.

Best Western Plus Park Place Inn Bathroom

The bathroom is also just inside the door. The bathrooms here are some of the smallest, most awkward we’ve experienced in Anaheim, but pretty standard for the hotels directly across the street. There is no room for more than one person to get ready in this bathroom and it’s even tight for one.

Despite the age of the hotel, the bathroom was in good condition and very clean. Both the sink and shower had incredibly hot water in what appeared to be unlimited supply. There are few things more wonderful than a long, hot shower after walking around the park all day. If you have small children, you may want to watch the temperature.

The shower is a standard tub/shower combo, with a basic shower curtain. If you’ve been here for any length of time, you know that showers with fabric curtains aren’t our fave.

Best Western Plus Park Place Inn Room

The rooms at Best Western Plus Park Place Inn are average. There are three types of rooms – Standard Double, Standard Queen and Mini Suites. The Standard Double and Queen rooms sleep four. The Mini Suites have two queen beds and a queen size sleeper sofa, accommodating up to six.

Between a dresser, desk and small table, the room had plenty of surface area to place things, however the rooms do not have a lot of additional storage.

The room has both a mini-fridge and microwave.

What amenities are available at the closest hotel to Disneyland?

To be honest, there aren’t a lot of amenities available at the Best Western Plus Park Place Inn.

The hotel does have a pool and hot tub area that’s clean and well-kept, but compared to other area hotels the space is very small.

The hotel doesn’t offer an in-house dining option, though there is an IHop right next door.

What is the staff like at the closest hotel to Disneyland?

The staff weren’t as friendly or helpful as we have experienced in other, similarly priced hotels. Staff didn’t provide any information about the hotel at check in, including the promised continental breakfast. There were several layers of verification required the next morning to have them hold our bags the day we checked out.

How is the free continental breakfast at the Best Western Plus Park Place Inn?

We’ve heard rave reviews about the above average continental breakfast at the Best Western Plus Park Place Inn, but the full spread wasn’t available during our visit. We were able to grab a few pieces of fruit at the grab and go breakfast, which is still what’s being offered when we published this post.

We honestly don’t expect much in terms of a free breakfast at a hotel so close to Disneyland. Very few of the other hotels along Harbor offer anything at all, so in our view anything is a plus.

Would we stay at the Best Western Plus Park Place Inn again?

Unlikely. We don’t have small children that need to be brought back to the hotel for naps and for the price, we feel like there are better options. The price of our stay at the Best Western Plus Park Place rivaled one of the best luxury hotels we’ve stayed at.
