Today I have a fun project and a giveaway in addition to the regular link-up!
Big fan of Halloween here.
BIG.
It sort of runs in the family.
We have a lot of great Halloween photos, like this one from last year…
Or this goofy one from our Halloween dinner two years ago…
And my sister-in-law has some super-fun images as well, like this one of my nephew…
With all of these great images available, I wanted to create a fun, but simple, Halloween scrapbook for my parents.
Simple Halloween Scrapbook
I am not much of a scrapbooker to start with, but I am a huge fan of Project Life. It’s the perfect way to complete a book that looks great, but doesn’t take the time and money involved in traditional scrapbooking.
Let’s start by talking about some of the supplies.
- Project Life Mini Album – Midnight
. These mini albums can be a little hard to find in stores, but you can grab one online. The great thing about these smaller albums is that they come with photo pocket pages sewn in.
- Project Life Halloween Theme Cards. I am a BIG fan of these theme packs. They’re fantastic + they’re inexpensive. The Halloween pack has 40 cards – 8 4×6 cards and 32 3×4 cards. These cards are available at Hobby Lobby.
- Slick Writer
and Project Life Pens
. The Slick Writers are awesome. They are photo safe and will write on slick surfaces. The Project Life journaling pens are a bit more precise. I use them for everything from journaling to everyday writing.
- Photos.
Here’s where I own up…I broke my own super-simple scrapbooking rule and just went to simple.
I grabbed some additional scrapbooking supplies. The Project Life Halloween Theme Cards design is based on the Pebbles, Inc. Thirty-One collection. So I snagged the Pebbles Thirty-One 6×6 Halloween Paper Pad…
And then bought some fun flat embellishments, including the FREAKING AWEOME Halloween washi American Craft has at Target.
But back to my simple scrapbook…
I started my Halloween book with the Project Life Halloween Theme cards. I wanted to give you a better picture of what they look like…
Awesome, yes?!
One of the things I really like about these cards is that I can use them in my Halloween scrapbook, but I can also use them as gift tags and cards. So excited!
I wanted it to be clear right from the start that this was a Halloween scrapbook. I started by updating the window in the front of the mini album.
I just used one of the 3×4 cards in the theme pack and then just added a little bit of the cool Happy Halloween washi from Target.
Here’s the end result…
A word about embellishing…
Those of you who’ve followed along know that I don’t do a lot of embellishing. I sort of use Project Life in its most basic form. When I do embellish my cards and photos I try to keep my embellishments as flat as possible (to the horror of every traditional scrapbooker). When the cards are layered up, they just don’t fit into the photo pocket tightly.
I like to start by rounding my photo corners and slipping the photos and cards in the album first. I go back to embellish and journal later. I know that’s a little backwards for some people, but to each his own, right?
It took me less than an hour to get everything in the album. Here’s a little sample of what it looks like so far…
I will be back to share more Halloween Project Life pages next week.
Halloween Theme Card Giveaway
In the meantime, how about a little giveaway? I am giving away one pack of Project Life Halloween Theme Cards. Please follow the directions in the Rafflecopter widget to enter.
Saturday Share Linky
The great thing about Saturdays is I have the opportunity to not only share what I’ve been working on, but I also get to share my friends projects and invite you to share yours.
Be sure to pop over and visit Imaginisce, Pebbles, My Sister’s Suitcase, Sweet Rose Studio, Simple as That and Balancing Home.
I would probably use them to border pictures or print labels and use them as gift tags for my son’s class.
I would love to win this!!!!
Just love how the cover came out. And so simple – I definitely have to quit overthinking things!
The project looks great! I am so hoping to get back on track with Project Life. I’m 6 months behind this year but I’m going to a retreat in November and I’m gonna get it done! Thanks for the giveaway!
I’d use the cards to make a Halloween mini album.
I love your album card! So simple and just perfect.
I would love to scapbook with the Project Life Halloween cards – so fun – they would also be so cute to use as a halloween banner – placecards, etc. – so cute!
I would use the Halloween cards in my kids’ PL albums. I would probably use any extras for cardmaking.
I’d love to win this!! I have no clear idea right now what they would be used for, but I am always working on so many different craft projects, and I adore halloween. There are so many awesome possibilities that these amazing designs could be used for! 😀
If I win this, I will finish the first scrapbook of my own. Will be a pretty good start for me, ’cause I love Halloween! I would use the excess material to make loads of cards, tags and gift packages for friends! Maybe I will also use some paper in a collage!
Will make cards with these.
I love Halloween!
I would use them for my 3 kuds PL book pages! I love them!
I would use these to actually get started doing project life. I just found out anout it over the weekend and looks like I may be able to gey some pages done this way!!
I would love these cards to document Halloween last year. We just had Super Storm Sandy and most of our friends were without power. We had a giant group of us come trick or treating in my neighborhood that had power. It was probably one of the best Halloweens ever.
Love this cute little collection of Halloween Cards and would inspire me to create an album of all those halloween photos I have laying around.
Love simple! Thanks for the chance to win! 🙂
I would love to win this! I already have the Halloween PL Theme pack, but will most likely need another set as I love Halloween and have a lot of photo’s for my PL. I would love to get the black mini album too! Love how you used the washi and kept it simple too. 🙂
I would use the Halloween themed cards for my Project Life pages. I would also love to use them for cards and to attach to goodies for the neighbors.
I love your idea of Halloween mini album
LOVe project life!! I would use the cards in my album that I have just started on 🙂 PL is new to me 🙂
I would use them to make a mini Halloween album. My boyfriend and I both love Halloween, so it’s a big event for us! 🙂
Thanks for doing this giveaway! I tend to do PL in it’s simpilest forms as well, so I would love to win this for the Halloween pics coming up. Thanks!
I REALLY want to make one of these albums! I had made a similar album out of tags a few years ago, but I want to overhaul it and add more pics! Would love to get my hands on these Halloween themed cards!
Oh, Tauni! I have been waiting and waiting for the Halloween cards to become available so I can scrap all the photos I have from our Halloweens past….my kids are 26 and 30! I haven’t been able to get them locally (no sources here) and have been waiting for them online since they were announced! Have photos pulled, ready to go!
I have a clear vision for their use!!
I would use them to catch up on 8 years od my daughter’s life! I have 8 Halloweens to document and this pack would be a great help! 🙂 Thanks for the chance to win as the Halloween pack isn’t sold anywhere near me. 🙂
That is so cute! I need to do a mini album soon!
I am so excited to get these Theme packs!!
I would use the Halloween theme pack for making a cute 2013 Halloween mini album of my kids 🙂
ohhh I have been waiting for these cards! Love them!!
Thanks for the chance! I’d love this for aaaaaaaaaaaalllll the years I have to catch up on. We go to three Halloween parties every year, so there are lots of pictures.
Wow Megan. That’s a lot of Halloween parties! Sounds like a lot of fun though. Good luck! xoxo Tauni
Thanks for the awesome giveaway! I would use the cards in my PL album and in the Disneyland album I will be making for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party!
Oh my gosh. I AM SO JEALOUS! It is my dream to take the kids to Disneyland for Halloween. xoxo Tauni
I love your book, it’s awesome!! I think Halloween is my favorite holiday, not sure why, but I love the colors and decorations! If I won I would go out and take a ton of Halloween photos to scrap!! Thanks for giving me a chance to win!! I’m keeping my fingers crossed, LOL!
Thanks Karen. I appreciate your kind words. I am not the “Scrapper” that most of you are so I am always a little nervous to share my Saturday posts in the FB groups. xoxo Tauni
What a Spooktacular give away! I love Halloween! Thank you for the opportunity! Fingers crossed!
OH, and yes…my intentions…I have 30 years of Halloween that I am documenting in Project Life!
Oh wow. I am glad I don’t have quite 30 years to document 🙂 Good luck!
I love your approach to this halloween album! I would use the cards to document halloween through the years! It would be fun to do this for all that holidays!
Julie, It’s actually been really fun printing and putting all of the photos in a Halloween album. It will be the perfect coffee table book to bring out each year! xoxo Tauni
I really, really love this! You have inspired me to go hunt through to find the last 20 years of Halloweens to make an album for my girls. (How on earth have they gotten so old??) Now to find an album…I wish they weren’t so hard to find.
I’d love to do a “coffee table” book for Halloween…but I’d probably just put them in my regular Project Life. My daughter actually begged for this pack from Archiver’s and I meant to swipe some of the cards before she used them all…so far I haven’t!
Halloween is my FAV holiday, and anniversay, so I would love to wkn the PL cards!!
I would use the cards to make pages for my niece’s and nephew’s books.
I would use the cards IN my Project Life 2013 album! I would use any leftovers to on regular Scrapbook layouts or add them to the banner for my mantle. Thanks for the chance to win!!!
Love the Halloween theme pack! I really appreciate seeing others who use more simple embellishments. Sometimes I feel like I’m not doing enough when I keep it simple. Thanks for the inspiration.
I would make a halloween album very similar to your album. I love your simplicity and try and keep my project life the same way. If I add embellishments, they are flat and usually small. Thanks for sharing and for the chance to enter your competition. 🙂
Such a great idea! I love your style!
I’d love to use these for a Halloween album of old pictures from growing up
I would use this as a Halloween album for a throughout-the-years halloween theme 🙂 So Cute!!
Sometimes a reminder of back to basics is needed. Thank you~
How fun! I love the new cards…super cute and VERY Halloween!
I would make an album that would span the next few years for my toddler on Halloween!
Oh. So sweet. Little, little ones are the best at Halloween time. xoxo Tauni
I would totally use these Halloween Theme cards in my Project Life book, mixing them in with Becky’s Midnight Core Kit and the same 6×6 paper pad that you used! LOVE! I might even follow your lead and make a Halloween only mini book, too! 🙂 Thanks for the giveaway!
Doreen, I didn’t know how much I would love the idea of a mini book until I started…I’ve only ever just had the full album. I might have to make one for Christmas now too! xoxo Tauni
I would love to win this! Halloween is a big deal around our house and I love the idea of a mini album just for Halloween. I have one for Christmas, but love the idea of a Halloween one too! Thanks for a great giveaway!
Amy
Fun album Tauni! Love the simpleness of it…no matter how hard I try, simple is not my thing, although I’m getting better at just letting the pictures tell the story since I started Project Life. Would love a set of the Halloween cards!
I would use these cards in both a mini album and cards. They are so adorable and love your album.
I would use them to make a super simple Halloween album of past and present Halloweens.
This looks awesome! I haven’t see. Anything Halloween but I only have a Michaels that isn’t very good to begin win. This would be a great way to get into PL…baby steps so it doesn’t seem overwhelming because I’m one of those over thinkers who tends to make it more difficult than it really needs to be resulting in not trying ????
Thanks for a chance!
The Halloween theme cards aren’t available at Michaels, but they are at Hobby Lobby and Archiver’s. Thanks Tauni
These cards are Boo-tiful! I would use them in my projectlife layouts of my upcoming Halloween trip to Disneyland!
Love this simple little book (just my style!) Would love to win this prize. Thanks for being so inspiring and for the chance to win the Halloween Cards

Rose, I am sorry you received a 504 error. I haven’t been able to replicate the issue. I hope you were able to get through…Thanks, Tauni
I would love these to make some banners, matte some pictures, and so much more!
I’d probably use them to make cards. Haven’t sold my soul to PL – yet 🙂 Of course, this might put me over the top!
Would love to win! I’d use this to scrap all my twins Halloween pics 😉

I would use them in my PL! Thanks for a chance to win.
I have been wanting to try project life. With kids I never have much time to be creative and this looks perfect!
I’d use them to scrap some Halloween pics of my kids!
I’d love to win to actually get some memories down in a book form for my girls to look at this Halloween instead of the pictures sitting on the computer waiting. Figure if I won this, I’d have the girls help me (8, 5, and 3 put it together!
Love this kit! I’m a huge fan of Hallowe’en because I do special effect makeup and this would look great with my spreads!
What a fun idea. Good luck! xoxo Tauni
I love those Project Life cards, adorable. I would use them in my Halloween Disney Project Life.
These would look great next to pictures of my boys all dressed up! I would incorporate them into my Project Life album.
This is life changing! I am so excited to get on the Project Life train.
I’d love to use these in documenting my family’s Halloween memories!
I am LOVING project life, and would love this kit to use for our Halloween pics
Vanessa, I am so glad that you are enjoying it! xoxo Tauni
Tauni, I have been on a washi hunt at many Target stores for the Freaking Awesome Happy Halloween washi, and just today a friend of mine found it today at Target!!!! Hooray!!!! And we’re going to split it. So happy to do this Halloween Album. I’ve got all the supplies in hand now! Great Idea and products you’ve used. Thank you so much for sharing and always giving such great answers to the many questions ask. Happiness to you ~ Sandy
Sandy, whoop, whoop! I am so excited for you!!! I love the Halloween washi – all of it!I can’t wait to see what your pages look like. I am sure you’ll do such a great job with them. xoxo Tauni
Does anyone out there have any of this Happy Halloween washi from Target leftover that they can part with? I would love to have a piece of it and after a multiple city, four state, family search for this, have had zero luck. Please let me know if you are reading this and would like to sell/send me a piece of this tape. Thank you so much for considering!
Andrea, what a bummer! I still have a bit left on my roll. How much are you looking for? xoxo Tauni
Hi Tauni – thank you for your kind message. I don’t need much – maybe just a few “Happy Halloweens”. I loved how you did your cover page for this album which was what inspired my search! I’d like to be able to use it for this same type of project. If you can spare some, I am happy to pay for it and to send it to me (I am in WA state). Thank you!!
