Each year trend setters in the design industry eagerly await Pantone’s Color of the Year announcement. In the recent past bright, bold hues have taken center stage…
Pantone Color of the Year
This year, Pantone has taken a far different direction with far lighter, more muted colors. It’s also the first time the company is focusing on not one, but two shades to serve as the Pantone color of the year. Meet Rose Quartz and Serenity.
Explaining their choice, the Pantone cited “societal movements toward gender equality and fluidity, the consumer’s increased comfort with using color as a form of expression, a generation that has less concern about being typecast or judged and an open exchange of digital information that has opened our eyes to different approaches to color usage.”
I’m not sure I typically consider political and cultural issues that closely when considering a purchase, but I do like the Pantone color twins. Although they’re a pair, they don’t have to be used together. An easy way to bring these colors to your home is by using them as accent colors throughout your home.

What do you think? This winter Rose Quartz and Serenity will pair well with cozy cable knit blankets and warm sweaters in neutral colors. While in the spring, they will pair well with florals and loose lightweight fabrics.
Will you be incorporating these colors into your life this year? And, will you be working them together or rocking them alone?
