Hi all! Katie here from Sweet Rose Studio and I am so honored to be asked by Tauni to share my one word that I’ll use as my compass this year. In 2015, I chose to embrace the word Joy.
I’ve found in the past few years that it’s so easy to get wrapped in the negativity and mundane tasks of everyday life. Stress, anxiety, gossip, and doubt have filled so many of my minutes. Instead of falling into the age old trap of finding the worst part of a situation, this year I’m choosing joy.
I want to see the positives, enjoy all of the little moments: laugh with my littles (instead of telling them to quiet down), celebrate Sarah sitting like a big girl (instead of reflecting on how big she’s getting too fast), cheer on Luke as he scores the winning touchdown (instead of stressing if he’s going to get hurt or not), hug Reagan like there’s no tomorrow when she graces the stage and dances without any ounce of fear (instead of calculating how much her classes are costing). I want to enjoy and make the most of the time The Husband is home from work and not be bitter about the sheer quantity of time that he’s there.
I’m going to cherish the moments where all my family wants when they’re sick is their momma. I’m going to find the joy (or at least try ridiculously hard) in maintaining a clean and happy home for The Husband and our kids. I’m going to take those moments where I’m down in the nitty gritty trenches of everyday life and be joyful in that time, thankful that I even get those moments.
So there you have it; I’m going to strive to make this year full of joy. Who’s with me?!

I am so blessed to be a wife to my high school sweetheart and mother to our three sweet, crazy kids. In my past life I was an elementary school teacher, but now I am a stay-at-home-momma by trade and absolutely adore what I do.
