Show + Tell No. 148

Happy 2015 my link loving friends! I have missed you.

I have run this link party for about four years now. I have met some of my contributors, team members and favorite bloggers via the share. I look forward to seeing your posts each and every week. I plan to continue my little link party into the future, but I am considering making some changes and I would like your feedback.

Post Time

I typically post the link Tuesday at 10 p.m. MST, though truly it’s supposed to be a Wednesday link party. Do you like having the link up late at night, or would you prefer it first thing in the morning? Another time all together?

Group Link Parties

Many bloggers have combined their link party and it’s shared across several blogs. When you link up to one blog, your post is shared across the board to each of the other sites. Would you prefer something like that, or do you like that the party is held on my site alone?

Show + Tell Highlights

Each week I try to highlight between five and ten projects that stand out. Do you like seeing the highlights, or would you simply prefer I share on social? What’s the best number of highlights? I know many of you come here for a specific purpose.

Miscellaneous

I know you visit a lot of other sites for linky parties. What things have you seen that you really like? Really dislike? Should I change the guidelines?

Will you please take a couple of minutes and let me know what you think? I’d really appreciate your feedback.

Show + Tell Linky

Here are the guidelines:

  • Link any sort of craft or DIY projects or recipes, but make sure you link to the specific post, rather than your home page.
  • Please do not link projects that have been shared previously. Please don’t link up your own linky party.
  • Follow me on Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter where I will share some favorite projects.
  • Everyone loves comments. Please take a moment and comment on two posts above yours and two posts below.

I’ve been debating making changes to my linky party as well. Seems like everyone is doing a group link party. I do like them because they have potential for more traffic, but if they are too large (500+ posts linked up) I think it’s overwhelming. I love that you share highlights, because sometimes I miss things in the linky party. The posting time doesn’t matter that much too me as long as it’s always the same week to week. 🙂

Hey Kara, I haven’t ever really publicized my party much. I sort of like having regulars. I don’t really want to get that big either…I would like to make sure that it’s worth it for all of the people that share. Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate it! xoxo Tauni

I like when you start. The day doesn’t matter, but I like starting the night before. I’m on the fence for a group party. The exposure is great but a lot of great posts are missed. I love seeing highlights.

Kimberly, thanks for your feedback. I really appreciate your thoughts. I don’t think I ever want to get a whole lot bigger. I couldn’t look through everything. I just thought people might be interested in more exposure. xoxo Tauni

Thanks so much for the party! Four years is a LONG time for a link party! I feel like a congrats is in order for such a successful linky! I love to see 5-6 highlighted items. I really enjoy that. I also think it’s nice if there’s a group of bloggers because ultimately that’s more exposure, I suppose! I definitely like evening link parties since I work during the day and evenings are my main free time, and I like an 8pm or 9pm timeframe. It’s a good in-between. Not too early that it’s dinnertime or I’m not even off work, but also not so close to bedtime!! 🙂 Thank you again for being such a gracious host!

Sarah, thanks so much for your feedback. I really appreciate your thoughts. I hadn’t considered moving the party up and hour or two, but I will definitely take that into consideration! xoxo Tauni

Hey Tauni! Love Show + Tell. I like the time that it is now. I’m a night owl and not so much a morning person. Also, I enjoy the party just on your site. Too many link ups on multiple blogs can be a bit overwhelming. I love looking through the features. So, I like how you have the party now :). Of course, if you change things, I’d be happy too 🙂

    Hey Tauni!

Here are my answers to your questions.

    1. I prefer mornings. Night people by FAR outnumber morning people. Those of us who are the few up early are always last on your party. Seems more balanced if it’s in the morning. Just saying. 😛

    2. LOVE the group parties. More parties, more people, more sharing, more places to be featured etc.

    3. Definitely keep showing the actual features along with social network sharing. It’s why we do this… to hopefully be highlighted!

    4. Your party is one that I wish others would emulate. The linky photo size is just right… not incredibly tiny as some are. You allow us to put a decent size subject line under the photo, also important. You feature your choices beautifully. Very professional overall. I love sites like yours. Ü

Thanks for all your hard work!
    Nancy

I honestly love your party just the way it is! I always see your night owl FB post to remind me to link up (because I’m always still up — ha), and I love the way you feature so many link-ups via social media each week. I think it’s nice that you highlight a few of the best at your next party, too. And your link party is solid enough that I don’t think you need other hosts to make it attractive. All just my 2 cents… 😉 Thanks so much for hosting every week!

Hi, Tauni, I’m new to your party today, and I’m so glad I found it! I love the variety of things people are bringing- I will have fun browsing as soon as I comment. 🙂 First of all, thank you for hosting this lovely party- I feel as though I have stumbled upon a gem! I love parties of all sizes, but some parties are so huge and impersonal, I think, “why even bother?”. The size of the party isn’t it completely, though- I’ve seen warm, personal big parties, and I’ve seen small parties where it doesn’t seem that anyone knows you even linked up. 🙂 (I host a party, too, so all of these things are on my mind quite a bit!). There’s some kind of intangible “spirit” or fun or whatever to a party, and yours has it.

Features: I personally love to see them! Somewhere around 5 to 7, give or take a few- just like you said. I also appreciate it when my link ups are shared somewhere…anywhere….I think pinning is easiest for the host, and maybe even most helpful to the partier? Again, something I think about, too!

Time of the party: Yours seems to be working for you- I see the comments, above, and your fellow night owls like it! Personally, my schedule makes it almost impossible for me to attend parties past about 7:00 p.m. your time. BUT, I will come to this one whenever you have it…..I may be late and show up the next morning, but I’ll bring something yummy to make up for it! 😀 It’s hard to change the time of a party….especially one that has been going on for 4 years (wow- awesome!). You could gain some guests, but you could lose some, too.

Guidelines: I think yours are just fine. 🙂

So you probably didn’t want a novel when you asked for feedback. I’ve added your party info to my party page, and I’ll be back next week! Following! 🙂

Hi Tauni! I also LOVE your party! I love your features….it is also fun to see if the link ups you feature are some that I comment on and pin! I don’t have a preference on when your party goes live because sometimes I am up late and other times I am up super early so I am happy either way and will continue to link up whether you make changes or not. Again, I love your party and look forward to it each week! Thanks for all you do and hope you have a wonderful day and week! Michelle 🙂

Happy New Year! I really love your party- multi blog parties are fine too- they help spread the work load I hear. I love that you do features and social features- bonus! The only thing I’d like is having the link up start in the morning instead of the night before- that’d help me get here sooner 🙂

Hello Tauni, I haven’t joined in with the Linky party that often but I have a couple of times and even more often I’ve stopped by to see other people’s links.

I really love the size of the linky it’s not too overwhelming like some group linkys – yes they’d be more exposure in terms of numbers but I feel like this is better quality exposure in that people are more likely to visit the other link-ups – I’ve had new readers come from here and leave comments on my blog more than other linkys I’ve tried.

I don’t mind the time as you can never please everyone with that so do what suits you – but it would be good if you could mention in the guidelines that 10pm MST is the normal time it goes up – I could never work out what time it went up so I never stood a chance of getting near the top which is why I haven’t linked up more often. Of course that time is about 5am here in the UK so that’s why I never saw it go live, I’m always asleep then… but now I know the time I could get up early if I really want to share something!

Please carry on sharing some featured posts. I love the idea that one day I might be featured – it makes me work hard on my blog posts to make sure the photos are perfect etc, I like having a goal to work towards. And you always share some things that I missed when scanning the linky which I like to check out.

Sorry for the long reply, I hope that all makes sense. Thank you for building a fabulous linky party and putting the time into it over so many years,

    Jennifer x

Thanks so much for your feedback. I appreciate your thoughts.

I hadn’t ever thought to include the exact time the linky goes live in the guidelines. I will definitely include that in the future!
