“A Touch of Farmhouse Charm,” by Liz Fourez, should live on the shelf of anyone looking to create a beautiful farmhouse-style home on a budget.
This is not a paid post, but I was provided an advance copy of the book for review. This post does contain affiliate links that will help the reader easily locate products mentioned.
There are few things I love more than a good book. I am an equal opportunity book devotee – from hardback coffee table books to political biographies, I love them all. Having said that, I may be a bit biased when it comes to books written by my friends. They tend to get a bit more attention.
From the moment Liz told me she was putting together a book featuring her signature farmhouse style, I knew it would be a beautiful piece. Liz has a soft, cozy style mid-west farmhouse style that exudes comfort and I’ve loved reading her blog, Love Grows Wild, from the moment I first came across it several years ago.
A Touch of Farmhouse Charm
Nearly a year later after Liz told me about her book deal, I received a copy of “A Touch of Farmhouse Charm: Easy DIY Projects to Add a Warm and Rustic Feel to Any Room” in the mail and it is everything I thought it would be. It’s 200 pages full of the most beautiful imagery and features 70 creative projects found throughout Liz’s home.
Liz has categorized each project in her book as beginner, intermediate or advanced. Having half the projects in the book can easily accomplished by a beginner, which makes this a great purchase for first-time home buyers, or those just embarking on their DIY journey.
While “A Touch of Farmhouse Charm” is a great project guide for those who’re just starting out, it still serves as a fantastic source of inspiration for those with more advanced skills. As I flipped through the pages I marked several for future reference, including Liz’s mercantile pillow.
I am a pillow FANATIC and couldn’t wait to use the technique to create a fun DIY stenciled Valentine’s Day pillow for my home.
Totally different and yet completely inspired by “A Touch of Farmhouse Charm.”
The book is a paperback and though it’s clearly meant to serve as a project-based, instructional-style manual, but could easily hold it’s own as a book set out on the coffee table. Who doesn’t love a good buy, with dual purchase?!
One of my favorite things about the book is actually the way it’s put together. The cover pops away from the spine in a way that allows the book to open and lie flat. Readers will be able to utilize this book as an reference manual while working on projects, without destroying the binding.
“A Touch of Farmhouse Charm” is a great addition to my bookshelf, but it’s an absolute “must have” for anyone interested in the farmhouse-style decor made popular on HGTV shows, like Fixer Upper.
