A couple of months ago I transitioned the guest room from a single queen to two twin beds (you can read more about it here). The bright-colored, whimsical design of the room has been really popular with you, it was even featured on local tv. And yet, the other day when I went in to tidy the room up for a stay, I felt like it was missing something. I made this simple embroidery hoop wreath with yarn pom poms to brighten up the corner.
Want to make a modern embroidery hoop wreath with pom poms for your space? Let me show you how!
Modern Embroidery Hoop Wreath with Pom Poms
This is an easy DIY that’s easily created in less than 30 minutes. To recreate this project you will need the following supplies:
- Embroidery Hoop
- 2-3 Skeins of Yarn
- Scissors
- Pom Pom Maker
- Glue Gun
- Hot Glue
Start by loosening the clamp on the embroidery hoop. Separate two pieces of the hoop. Tighten the clamp on the single embroidery hoop and set aside. Use the solid wood hoop for this project.
Using the skein of yarn you’ve selected as your base color (mine is hot pink), wrap the yarn tightly around the hoop. Continue wrapping the yard around the hoop until it covers 80-90% of the hoop. Snip the yarn and tie off both ends to secure.
Using the skein of yard you’ve selected as your accent color (mine is white), wrap the yard tightly around the bare part of the hoop. When you’ve filled the remainder of the hoop with yard, snip the yarn and tie off both ends to secure.
Using a pom pom maker, create three pom poms of various sizes (I created two large and one small pom poms for my wreath).
Once the pom poms are created glue them to the wreath form using hot glue, opposite the contrasting colored yarn and fluff.
Loop a length of yarn around the top of the wreath so the wreath is easily hung on a hook or nail.
I love how it turned out and it fits in with the room so well!
I had so much fun selecting bright-colored yarn at JoAnn for this project. I used their new app on my iPhone to grab some great savings while I was in the store.

Download the app to find projects that show how to do everything from how to decorate the perfect cupcake to crochet and knitting projects. And, if you’ve got a great project idea, you can upload it to the app too! You can easily create the project in app or upload a previously prepared video. There are great in app editing tools that will allow you to trim your video down, speed it up and even add music!I am super excited to have this new, robust app at my fingertips. I actually need fabric for a Halloween costume, so I am off to shop for supplies!
