Today I am excited to share an interview with one of my favorite bloggers, Ariean, from One Krieger Chick.
When Ariean completes a project is wow. Don’t believe me? Let’s take a look back at some of the SYTYC Season 17 Challenges Ariean won.
She picked up her first win with her bathtub to sofa project.
She also picked up a win for her kid-friendly Halloween candy dispensers.
I am looking forward to sharing a few of my favorite One Krieger Chick projects with you today, but first let’s get on with the interview!
Interview: Ariean, One Krieger Chick
Tell as a little bit about yourself and your blog.
I started OneKriegerChick in the Fall of 2012. I had been addicted to blogs for years and my sister kept telling me I could blog too. So, one day, on a whim with phone in hand, OneKriegerChick was born.
I use OneKriegerChick as a way to hold myself accountable for accomplishing projects around the house..It’s working!  Also, I want to encourage women who feel they are un-crafty to see how simple crafting and DIY can be.
How and why did you start crafting?
I have been crafting as long as I can remember. My mom is the craftiest woman I know. I grew up working alongside her…sewing, painting, cooking, building. When I was twelve, I saved my babysitting money to purchase a dollhouse kit and built the entire thing by myself. That was just the beginning of my lifelong love of Interior Design and DIY…
How often do you craft?
Daily…Typically I have multiple projects going on at the same time and am always trying to finish something. I try to craft during naptime, but sometimes my boys join in on the project too!
Where do you get inspiration? How do you stay creative?
I always feel I have too many ideas and never enough time. My mind is brimming with ideas! Naptime is never long enough. I go shopping or look at magazines, but I especially love going to auctions, barn sales or flea markets.
What is your favorite medium to work with?
Old stuff…I love to repurpose objects. There’s just something about taking an old, discarded item and bringing it back to life in a new way.
What’s the one craft/DIY skill you’d love to master?
Photography or power tools. I took classes on both in college, but that was so long ago…I need a refresher course! I would love to have amazing photos of my boys and also the ability to teach them how to build alongside me.
What is your guilty pleasure?
Hands down…Sonic Peanut Butter Fudge shakes. Darn the half price shakes! I’ve had to limit myself to one per week this Summer. I actually buy a large size so I can freeze half for the next day.
What makes you smile?
My three little boys…Especially when they first wake up with bright eyes and funny hair and just want to snuggle.
What is your favorite thing to do (other than crafting of course)?
Besides spending time with my family, I love to read. I’ve been in a Book Club for eleven years (longer than I’ve known my husband!)
How do you stay organized?
Ha…Ha…I don’t. I go in phases…some weeks are better than others. Most days, I’m just trying to stay above water.
What blogger do you look up to?
There are a few, but Myra from My Blessed Life has been a favorite for years. She is one of those women who radiates beauty inside and out. I admire her grace, mothering and design style and have always thought she would be my ideal neighbor…We could cook and DIY while our boys play!
THANKS SO MUCH ARIEAN!
